Quadruped Animation Study – Discovery Kids Preparation
In preparation for a project aimed at Discovery Kids, I focused on developing my skills in quadruped animation, specifically animating a dog.
To build a foundation, I completed a practice exercise using a free online dog rig and studied real-life references to understand quadruped locomotion, weight shifts, and timing.
One of the most important lessons was learning how to offset the timing between the front and back legs using a three-quarter rhythm in the Graph Editor. This technique allowed me to break the symmetry of the movement, creating a more natural and believable gait by staggering the keyframes just enough to reflect how real dogs move.
This exercise helped me confidently approach quadruped animation within the production standards of children's media.
