Final product unavailable due to NDA
Assigned Roles
3D Animation Lead
Storyboard Team Member
2D Animation Team (removed due to workload)
Storyboard
During pre-production, I actively contributed to the storyboard development, building on the approved beatboards.
My main contribution was bringing more dynamism to character D and the camera work, which initially felt static.
This led to a more engaging and fluid proposal that was incorporated (with minor adjustments) into the final product.
Highlighted Proposal:
I designed an alternative EndShot featuring robots harvesting mangoes—an idea inspired by the client’s request for a futuristic world in harmony with nature.
Although visually appealing, the concept was ultimately excluded due to its strong visual focus and high production demands.
3D Animation Lead
Then, I officially began my role as 3D Animation Lead.
Key Task: Layout Development
Translate the 2D animatic into a 3D space, adapting perspective and composition.
Assemble scenes using assets provided by the modeling team.
Create, position, and animate cameras to closely follow the original animatic.
Block out basic character animations to ensure proper framing throughout the sequences.
3D Animation – Personal Sequence
After ensuring all animators could access their scenes, I began animating mine.
Main Challenge: Robotic Dog
Animating the robotic dog was the most demanding part.
I used small dog running videos as reference, analyzing them in SyncSketch to identify key poses and better understand the motion.
This helped me blend mechanical and natural movement effectively.
Final CleanUp – 3D Animation Lead
As is common in animation, many scenes required corrections—even during the rendering phase.
As Lead, I took charge of extensive cleanup across all SolarPunk scenes and implemented last-minute changes, including new actions like jumps and laughs for character D.
One major revision involved the EndShot, where feedback indicated that character K seemed dismissive of D. We adjusted the acting accordingly.
Another key change was the orientation of D, who now appears not only horizontally (smile shape) but also vertically to add variety and clarity.
This cleanup phase marked the final stage of my role in the project. A before-and-after video will showcase this process from rough animation to final render and compositing.
Software
The software I used for all the animation is Autodesk Maya 2025
